Child Care Afrika e.V. is committed to supporting children and young people in Togo. The organization builds schools and orphanages to give local children more opportunities through better education.

As part of a major project, we took on two transports for the aid organization in summer 2023. First, we organized the transport of a 40-foot container with relief supplies worth 50,000 euros to Lomé. It contained wheelchairs, crutches, a washing machine, beds, mattresses, desks, chairs, computers and printers. These were distributed to two village schools near Bethesda and to the hospital in Bethesda.

The journey began on 23 June in Bocholt, where the organization is based, with loading onto the container. We were supported by many volunteers. Fully loaded, the container went to Antwerp to make its way to Togo, where it arrived on July 30. The almost 23 tons of donations in kind were handed over in October by Ingrid van Aalst, 1st Chairwoman of the Board of Directors, and Ismail Kododji-Traore, President of the Togolese association, together with the local partner organization OCDI Nationale Caritas Togo.

Our services included the entire organization of the transport, export customs clearance and communication with all parties involved. Fortunately, the transportation costs were sponsored.

The second project involved the transportation of relief supplies worth 7,000 euros for a school in Kpalimé. The container contained tables, chairs, microscopes, overhead projectors and used clothing. Here, too, we took care of the entire logistics, including customs clearance and the organization of all transport stages.

The mission was launched on June 9 at the Lerchenschule elementary school in Faßberg, where the container was loaded with 14.6 tons of relief supplies. From there, he made his way by sea via Hamburg to Lomé, which he reached safely on July 17.

Through our transports, we were able to support the education system in Togo and provide better learning conditions for the children there. Our cooperation with Child Care Afrika e.V. shows how important efficiently organized aid transports are.
