As a side event of the International Transport Forum, the Humanitarian Air Cargo Event took place in Leipzig on May 21. The all-day workshop was entitled “Innovation, effectiveness and efficiency in humanitarian air freight – from and beyond a German perspective” and took a closer look at the needs of humanitarian and disaster relief workers.
Benjamin Brich, founder of humanilog, took part in a workshop on standardization as co-moderator. It became clear that more standards and better coordination and strategic approaches are needed in order to establish these.
The workshop aimed to bring together researchers, practitioners and representatives from government, NGOs and the commercial sector. Improvements in humanitarian air freight and airport management in disaster and crisis situations were discussed together.
